Britney Spears and partner Sam Asgari launched a joint announcement on social media, in which they shared the tragic news with fans.
Actress Britney Spears announced, in a joint statement with her fiancé Sam Asghari, that she had a miscarriage.
The 40-year-old announced that she is expecting her third child last month.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that we lost our miracle baby so early in pregnancy,” Statement Read.
“This is a difficult time for any parent. We may have had to wait for the announcement to move forward. However we were very excited to share the good news.”
The couple added that their love for each other is their “strength” at the moment.
“We will continue to try to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”
Spears and 28-year-old personal trainer Asghari also thanked fans for their support, writing, “We are grateful for what we have in the process of expanding our beautiful family. Thank you for your support.”
Asghari also commented under the post, saying, “We will have a miracle soon.”
Spears has kept fans updated about her pregnancy since announcing that she was expecting last month. The news of her baby came after she was released from a 13-year guardianship period during which decisions were made about her life, career and even her fertility.
Spears is the mother of two sons, 15-year-old Jaden and 16-year-old Sean, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. During guardianship hearings last year, she repeatedly expressed her desire to be able to start a family with Asghari, who she has been with for a while after he appeared in one of her music videos in 2016.
Spears revealed last month that she got pregnant after the couple’s recent vacation in Hawaii.
I thought, “Geez…what happened to my stomach?” “No food you’re pregnant silly,” my husband said.
“So I took a pregnancy test… wah well… I’m having a baby… four days later…”
She continued, “I have a child.. He’s growing up! If there were two in there, I might lose her.”
“It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had peripartum depression. I have to say it’s pretty awful. Women didn’t talk about it back then…but now women talk about it every day!”
Britney concluded, “This time I’m going to do yoga every day! She spreads so much joy and love.”
At the time, Asghari also expressed his happiness with the news, writing, “Parenthood is something I have always looked forward to and never underestimated. It is the most important job I will ever do.”
